History of Maharishi Vidya Mandir
Maharishi Vidya Mandir® Schools (MVMs) were established with a vision to introduce Maharishi Consciousness-Based Education into mainstream school education in India.
- Over the past 32 years, MVM has become one of the largest school systems in the country, with 153 schools in 15 states, catering to about 80,000 students and employing around 6,000 teaching, administrative, and support staff.
- This extensive network of schools has proven its importance in Indian society by providing quality education from Kindergarten to 12th standard, with 93 schools affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, and the rest to respective State School Education Boards.
Maharishi Vidya Mandir® Schools Group is managed by Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan®, a national-level society registered under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. MVM stands among the top 10 schools in India, introducing Maharishi Ji's Consciousness-Based Education System (MCBE) into mainstream education. This system has been tried, implemented, and verified through over 700 scientific research studies conducted in 215 universities and independent research institutions across 35 countries. These studies, published in six volumes, document the remarkable benefits of Consciousness-Based Education, such as greater use of intelligence, superior brainwave functioning, faster learning ability, coherent thought processes, improved health, and the reversal of aging.
The genius of the Maharishi school curriculum lies in its seamless integration of NCERT and Central Board of Secondary Education subjects with the Supreme Science of Life—Vedic Science and Technology. Students at MVM practice Yoga, Maharishi Transcendental Meditation, and Advanced Techniques to attain higher states of consciousness. This approach has received wide appreciation from parents who have acknowledged significant improvements in their children’s overall development.
Maharishi Ji emphasized that modern-day problems stem from the incomplete growth of the human brain due to fragmented education. He believed that education is incomplete when it fails to utilize or develop the brain’s creative potential, leading to imbalances and cumulative stress. To address this, MVM aims to establish the value of pure consciousness in students, providing them with both conventional knowledge for professional skills and total knowledge of natural law for personal growth. This holistic approach allows students to lead stress-free lives, accomplish their desires, and contribute to global consciousness.
Over the years, MVM students have achieved innumerable accolades in academics, sports, cultural events, and social contributions. Notably, over 55,000 students and staff have practiced the TM-Siddhi Programme and Yogic Flying, enhancing their overall well-being and academic performance.
